Sian has extensive clinical experience within the NHS. She works within her scope of practice and is governed strictly by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards. Her clinical work is also undertaken in rigorous accordance with national and local trust clinical guidelines.
In recent years, being the treating dietitian for clients with complex rehabilitation needs following brain or neurological impairment at The Whittington Hospital, has allowed her to have an in-depth understanding of the short and longer term needs of such patients and has enabled her to prepare an in-depth quantum report for solicitor firms and the courts in this area.
Sian has since 2002 in tandem with her NHS work, run a private clinic in association with BMI Healthcare focussing on digestive diseases including coeliac disease, Crohns and ulcerative colitis, malabsorption secondary to gastrointestinal surgery along with the management of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
She is able to prepare quantum and liability reports on a wide range of areas within her subject areas of expertise including: digestive diseases and post-surgical malabsorption and malnutrition, nutritional support (including tube fed patients and using the parenteral/intravenous route), cancer/oncology; cardiology, care of the elderly, Type II diabetes, brain injury, major trauma, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, neurodegenerative conditions including stroke and dementias; tissue viability/pressure sores and palliative care.
Sian undertakes regular continuing professional development through attendance at courses, conferences, reading journal articles and through her website www.begoodtoyourgut.co.uk where she jointly contributes to regular evidence-based blogs on a range of topics related to digestive health in order to support her patients knowledge of their condition.
She qualified and worked as a Diabetes Self-Management tutor in 2018 in association with Whittington Health NHS tutor programme.
